What is Dignity?

Good Day!

I wrote a book called The Code of Dignity. Recently, I’ve heard President Joe Biden speak of dignity in many of his speeches. What is dignity? Dignity is the right of a person to be valued and respected for their own sake, and to be treated ethically. Being worthy, honored, and esteemed. I believe life, all life, has dignity and should be treated well. Planet Earth has dignity and all of it’s residents!

Yet, we often criticize each other, tearing down the fabric of humanity. Putting our needs above others. I must admit, when push comes to shove, I do it too. It’s hard to be gracious. Do you know what restores grace? Forgiveness.

Forgiveness Prayer

That's how we restore peace and move forward.

It’s a simple prayer that can be said by anyone on any subject. Try it out. Think of something that’s been bothering you, weighing you down. Are you able to say: I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you? Sigh. It’s harder than it looks. We harbor resentment, anger, and distrust in our heart. I know. It took me over twenty years to forgive the man who killed my brother. No way, no how was I going to ever forgive that man. That’s why I write. I find that writing moves that stuck energy. If you are interested in writing, I’ll be teaching a class through my upcoming blogs called Writing to Heal. In fact, most of my blogs will be centered around forgiveness, grace, and dignity. Hope you’ll join me on this journey to heal. More to come …
