My Tuesday Method

Are you interested in learning more about writing?

Do you have a story to tell, but don’t know where to start? Maybe you find the writing process rather lonely or daunting? Or maybe you have lots of great ideas that somehow never get expressed? Have you ever dreamed of writing a book? A blog? Journaling?

What one's need to write books

This is what you will need: a pen, a notepad (preferably with no lines), and a computer.

My Tuesday Method:

If you want to write a book, it’s important to put together a writing schedule. How fast do you want to complete your book?

For me, I write every Tuesday. I’m not in a hurry.

There are 52 Tuesdays in a year. A typical book is around 50,000 words. That means each week, I need to write about 1000 words.

For you and your method, you might want to write one hour a day and complete your book in six weeks. Maybe your novel is longer, you may need to write more words each day.

Here’s the math. Assuming 250 words per page and being able to write 8 pages an hour (we’ll learn more about writing speed later), that’s roughly 25 hours to complete a 50,000 word count novel.

Theoretically, that can be done over a three day weekend, writing 8 hours a day! Or a week M-F, 5 hours a day. Or a month, writing one hour a day for 25 days.

So. Think about your schedule and how much time you can dedicate. Don’t know how long your book will be? Don’t worry! The important part is realizing the necessity of sitting down and actually writing.

I’ll post a writing prompt once a week on Tuesdays to practice getting our words on paper and increasing our writing speed. My writing prompts are from the heart and get stuck energy moving.

You can choose to do the weekly writing prompt according to your schedule. Tuesday is my method. What’s yours?
